Changing security settings on the DIR-825
« on: June 10, 2010, 04:22:11 PM »

My laptop running Windows XP apparently can't handle WPA settings so I guess I need to downgrade to WAP level. How is this done? Dlink support pages say to go to the "wireless status icon" in the task bar, then to "wireless manager", and then to "my wireless networks". Does Windows 7 (on the desktop in which Dlink is installed) not have these as I can't locate them.

What wireless device are you using on your laptop?  I would suggest that you check the manufacturer's website for updated drivers.  I would also make sure that you are running Windows XP SP3.  I found that on a Linksys host adaptor, WPA2 did not work until I upgraded from SP2 to SP3.

Hope that helps instead of downgrading your security.

I am running the service pack 3. I'll see if I can determine what the wireless device is. It might be tough in that it came built-in with my Toshiba laptop.
