No Dlink news on that, but I doubt that IPv6 will be enabled in the 655 (End of Live cycle and all)

According to Lycan it will be added: http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=5381.0

IPv6 support is mandatory for us, the 655 as well as our current N line is slated for upgrade, but that could change at any second.

To my knowledge most home routers will use a NAT program that allows IPv6 on the WAN and an IPv4 Local network since the NAT is not transparent.

This would make more sense as the average user is already familiar with ipv4 addressing.

its still on their front page, and its still really good. routers can last for quite a long time in peoples homes. and Ipv6 is just now popping up in many places. i beleive its in their interest that they put out firmware for this, especially with them still being sold. i just got mine a month ago.

Still on sale does not conflict with being EOL :-) They will sell as long as they can, but just stop active development on features/firmware. And IPv6 still has a long way to go to become mainstream required.
But if they do start updating you won't hear me complaining  ;D

It looks like ICANN will run out of IPv4 space in about 12 months and the RIR's in about 18.  Don't know how much "end user"/consumer software is v6 aware, but it would be nice to be able to test such things and do evaluations for dual-stacking, tunnelling and other transition testing.

I've been trying to figure out how to allow ICMPv4-Type8 inbound for tunnel creation and the docs with my 655 are *sparse* on stuff outside of gaming.

Since all on this forum already have an IP from their provider...so why worry?
18 months is still plenty of time for product introduction. ISPs are preparing already, but don''t expect to get unlimited IPv6 IP's from them. It depends on the equipment they will provide to their customers, and IPv4 will not disappear.
