Use mobile phone via USB as WAN instead of wired network?
« on: June 24, 2010, 06:42:25 AM »

My ISP has a broken router that won't be fixed for a few days, so I thought that maybe I could make the DIR-825 use a 3G mobile phone to connect to the internet, via a USB cable.

Is this possible? I can use a program such as joikuspot (http://www.joikushop.com/) so share my mobile phone's internet connection to the computers in my house, but it would be a lot more convenient if the DIR-825 could use a mobile phone in this way.

you should technically be able to, but looks like they dropped this feature if the rev b version, which is what I bought.
and I bought this router cause it was the only one I'd seen that had this feature, that you could plug in a usb cell device and use it as a backup if the wan link were to drop.
ho hum, if you ever get it working somehow, post back, but I called dlink and was basically given the verbal finger, it's no longer an option and won't be added back...ho hum.
