DCS-920 Wireless Issue
« on: June 29, 2010, 07:41:20 AM »

I recently purchased a DCS-920 camera, and I'm having trouble getting the wireless to work.  With the camera plugged in to the network, I can see it in the Setup Wizard Search every time.  With it hardwired, I configured the wireless settings.  When I unplug the cat5, I immediately get a green light again that tells me that it's connecting to the wireless network.  However, I can't get the Setup Wizard Search to see the camera...

I have no idea what IP the camera is getting from the router, so I can't even ping.  I do know the IP of another wireless device, and I can ping it fine.  The subnet of the computer and the wireless devices are on the same subnet, and have the same IP group (except last digits of course).

Our network uses WEP (I know, worthless, but that's what my company's using).  I wonder if that's not the issue...

Camera has firmware 1.03.  I downloaded the new software and didn't see any difference.

Ideas?  Suggestions?...

Thanks,

Danny

For a little more info, I used a network analysis program I have to ping all the addresses on this subnet and resolve them.  With the camera plugged it, it is seen, and resolves a name "rbauth", which is weird...

With it unplugged, and the light green, I don't see anything that would be the camera.  I have an iPaq here on the wireless, and it does show up in the list.

Now, I'm not sure it's actually connecting, and is giving a green light when it should be red.  If this is the case, I'm stuck as all the settings are correct, as is the WEP key.  I've even tried every other setting I could think of just to try it....

Does you router show the MAC address of the wireless clients in the Status area? Not sure what router you are using...

can you provide your router model, most router will have report of mac address of all device connected to your router wifi, another way is to set a fix static ip for DCS-920 with Setup Wizard
