Partition not appearing after catastrophic power failure
« on: July 01, 2010, 01:31:39 PM »

Hi everyone,

I have a DNS-323 with two Western Digital 1.5 TB Green Disks, setup up in a RAID 1 (mirrored) array. I was in the process of deleting some files from the unit when the power was interrupted. When I restarted the drive and tried to connect, only the "web_page" volume appeared, not "Volume_1" with all my data on it. Logging into the config panel through my web browser brings me to the RAID config screen automatically, as if I'd just purchased the unit with a pair of new drives in in. The unit still shows the two physical disks in the status panel, but "Volume_1" is no where to be seen. Does anyone have any ideas that can help me restore my disks and my data? Thanks for your help.

You may have learned the backup lesson one power failure too late.

At this point, the best chance of recovery is to remove the disks from the DNS-323 and connect them to a Linux box and attempt data recovery.
