2 router network
« on: July 05, 2010, 06:07:50 PM »

Hi
I have two routers a DIR 655 and a Dlink 604. Is there a way to link these together?
I would like the dir655 connected to my adsl and use the 604 as an access point but im not sure how to do that. any thoughts?

what exactly are you trying to do?  Are you looking to expand or extend the signal of your wireless router?
if you're trying to expand or extend your signal, you would need to connect the 655 to 604 via lan to lan connection and NOT wan connection. make sure the ip settings are correct, 192.168.0.1 and the other router can be 192.168.0.2.  The ssid can be set differently, dlink, and dlink-2.  On the 604 disable the dhcp.  Now you can either hardwire the lan connection or use a powerline adapter if hardwiring is not possible.  I  hope this is what you were looking for.  Good luck.

Thxz for the reply  :)

I have the DIR 655 router on the main floor of our house which is connected to the adsl and the Dlink 604 in the basement. I have an Ethernet cable running to the basement. The thing I was wondering about is, do I connect the cable to WAN on the 604 or just one of the 4 ports? I want be able to connect our Wii and PS2 and a computer (used for media server) in our rec room.

Thxz again  :)
