Basic problems with my 321
« on: July 06, 2010, 05:10:22 PM »

Ok, So I am suffering from the missing folders in my UPnP server, I have a ton of movies, but it would seem the unit cant find them, but I can browse using Windows explorer and they are there.

I have a PS3 downstairs, and a Xbox 360 Upstairs and they both are reporting the same thing. So I am position its a problem with my DNS-321

so from the Xbox, I can browse too

Volume_1/AVSHARE/Movie/Sorted/0-9 and I see 8 folders, from the PC and console's
Volume_1/AVSHARE/Movie/Sorted/a-b and I see 0 folders from the console (29 from the PC)
Volume_1/AVSHARE/Movie/Sorted/c-d and I see 25 folders, from the console's and PC
Volume_1/AVSHARE/Movie/Sorted/e-f and I see 0 folders, from the console's (27 from the PC)

if I do a refresh in the NAS Server page , it goes from 0 to 100% very quickly.

So, I am trying to figure out why I cant get the movies to show up in some folders, but fine in other.

which leads to problem #2,  because my PC is far away from the PS3 and Xbox, is there something I can use on the PC that lets me browse the content in a media player like tool?

I have a WMP11 the I cant seem to find out out to make to it, and a WMP 12 that is not working in the current build.  is there a windows APP that works with this thing?

what am I missing?

more info.

ok, so I turned off the Upnp, and saved, and then turned it back on.

I left the ROOT checked, and when I did that it started indexing right away, unfortunatly, this isnt how i want the box configured, since there are some non movie stuff I was to sepperate.

the 1 truely weird thing,  is now when I browse on the Xbox 360, I go to

- select source (picking the NAS Server)

- folders

- MNT is  displayed (which I dont see when browsing the folder from windows.

- then I see  HD_A2   (I have these drives formated as one big large drive, but it looks like its only seeing HD_A2   is this a correct assumption?

for me to re-format, I need to move off 700gigs of stuff,  its not something I want to casually try.

help please

p.s.  all the movies that are showing up, are actually reporting an error.
