PC Shareport 3.0 32bit Auto-connect Driver Issue
« on: July 19, 2010, 01:42:43 PM »

Auto-connect works fine with my printers EXCEPT on an older model HP Photosmart 1000 printer that uses a HP930C driver. There is not a specific printer driver for this printer with Windows 7.  The HP930C driver is compatible.
Issue:  When trying to connect automatically for printing and using the "Configure" button the message "Checking if the device's driver is installed.  Please install if it is not already installed." stays on the screen forever and never configures the driver.

Windows 7 Pro 32bit.

i've got a similar issue, i have an hp laserjet 2500 color laserjet installed onto my share port.  the shareport software installs and sees the printer as available.

but if i go to configure the autoconnect, it does the 'checking if driver installed, if not install it' screen forever.

is it not support to activate the add new hardware screen to allow printer driver install?  that's my understanding from the shareport manual.

any help is greatly appreciated, again my shareport software show printer available, but how do i connect to it and print to it.

thanks.

Same problem here.  Trying to setup auto-connect to my HP Officejet 5610.  I know I have the driver installed; the printer connects manually and prtints fine.   Running Vista 64bit here.   I really woudl rather avoid manually connecting everytime I need to print!

After many attempts, I've been able to resolve the issue and my pc finally completed the auto-print setup.  First, I left Shareport installed but not connected to printer.  I then totally removed the printer from my laptop.  Once the printer was gone, I then ran Shareport.  It recognized the printer (wirelessly) as usual.  Once it attached to the printer (wirelessly), I was going to add the printer (via the network printer option).  Once Shareport connected to the printer, my laptop added the printer.  Ran the auto-connect setup step and it found the driver this time.  Weird bit working great.  Good luck all!

I have the same problem with my HP deskjet 5940 printer in vista 64bit using a Dir-655 router. I get the "checking if the device driver is installed" window that just goes on forever. any help on how to fix this issue would be helpful.

thanks

I was able to resolve the problem on my systems,Win Xp 32 and Vista 64, by removing the printer from my printers folder, leaving the printer software installed and Shareport 3.0 installed, then I rebooted the router. Started shareport and ran autoconnect which found and installed the printer. Now it works fine.
