I think posting a full message here instead of responding to other people's negative experience with the DWA-552 wireless N adapter would be better for everyone here.
So, first things first, hardware used....
D-Link DWA-552 Xtreme N Desktop Adapter (driver 1.60 11/05/2009)
D-Link DAP-1360 Wireless N Range Extender (Firmware 1.02 Oct 09/2009 )
D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Router (Firmware 1.34NA 5/20/2010) Internet Speed: 10Mb/sec DL 1 Mb/sec Upload
Operating system: Windows 7 Ultimate X64
Browser: Firefox version 3.6.6
I don't have to post everything just what's important.
I don't know why people are having problems with this card, as it has been a real performer, incredible speeds downloading and uploading (depends on your internet connection), and can carry a fairly strong signal and distance (even through walls, hallway).
I updated the firmware, set-up the DIR-655, and entered my settings where is was mostly compatible for everyone is the house (couldn't pick WPA2 cause some people are still using Windows XP

[get with it people make the move to Windows 7] which requires SP3 *Service Pack 3* for WPA2 to work).
Once that was done, I configured the DAP-1360 by using
WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Set-up), synced the DAP-1360 Extender to the DIR-655, and made sure the settings on the DAP-1360 matched exactly the same settings on the DIR-655.
I installed the DWA-552, with 1.60 drivers, used
WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Set-up) to connect (soooo much easier) and bang, connected in less than 20 seconds.
Getting full signals from the DWA-552 (thanks to the DAP-1360 Extender) and everything works perfectly, as I look over - 300Mbps (Wireless Network Connection Status).
So people, have a little patience, and basic know how, and you will enjoy the DWA-552 instead of scratching your head wondering what you did wrong.
If you have any questions, assuming I'm free, I'll try to help out any way I can:)
I tried to make this post as specific as possible to help out people, assuming they may have the same setup, or close to it.
Ciao
