Setting Up With Ubuntu
« on: July 23, 2010, 08:14:08 PM »

I just installed Ubuntu and now I can't get the system to see the wireless network. Windows XP had no problem automatically adjusting to this router, but now I have no idea how to configure the setting for Ubuntu. Please help.

Try the Ubunu pages/community on http://www.ubuntu.com/
This is a Dlink router dedicated forum

You're right, I should mention I have a Dlink 655. I was hoping someone in this forum could help with it's configuration with respect to the Ubuntu operating system.

There is no need for a specific setup for Ubuntu. The router acts independent from the OS used.

Thanks. I found the solution to the problem. I had to install the Broadcom patch (or whatever it is). I plugged in the ethernet cable and navigated to Administration - Hardware Drivers - Broadcom. Then I rebooted the computer and unplugged the ethernet cable.

I'm using a DIR-655 with Linux Mint 9 x64 (similar to Ubuntu 10.04). I did not have to do anything special to the router to have it work. If you had to apply a Broadcom patch your problem was most likely a general network problem which would affect your attempt to connect to any router, not only he DIR-655.
