My son house is 400 feet from mine, can I connect another router to my 655 so he can have internet at his house. The house is not in line of site but could put a cable in.

A CAT5e cable (good quality, no cheap knock off) should work OK.

Would something the following work?

    1.  Weather & UV Resistant Outdoor Jacket
    2. Aluminum Foil Shielding
    3. Static Drain Wire (Ground wire)
    4. Water Resistant Jacket (Almost as thick as the outer jacket)
    5. Four Twisted Wire Pairs

your ISP may not be happy with your using your internet to supply another homesite.  Most TOS probably state 1 home/1 Family type of use....or something like that....

You might need to put a powered switch on the far end to help make sure there is anough juice to power the circuit back to the router....

I agree with Sammy, although I've always thought the distance one can make a Cat 5 cable was about 100 meters maximum (or about 300 ft). You may get some loss of the signal for anything longer than 300 ft, but I suppose that depends on how the quality of the cable is.

If possible, I would use a switch/HUB between the two houses rather than at the end. May not be possible if there is no power supply or shelter between the two homes, so in that case I would follow Sammy's advice. Who knows, maybe you won't get any signal loss over 400 ft and you won't have to worry about it all...

Use high quality outdoor cables. It should work fine,  I've seen many 500 ft connections without data loss because of the high quality and shielded cables. I doubt if hub outside would be an option.
