DIR-685 Firmware v2.00WW
« on: July 26, 2010, 06:58:38 AM »

Firmware Released for World Wide Hardware (NA Version excluded)
Check UK D-Link FTP Server for release:
ftp://ftp.dlink.co.uk/dir_products/dir-685/

Remember to make a back-up of your settings....

Tested on UK (Hardware Version : A1, Firmware Version : 1.00)  once firmware progress finished. Enter onto the router status it will continue to show firmware v1.00, it will just freeze if you continue to use. Restart the router (I manually un-plugged the power, as the router became un-responsive, perhaps I had my HDD while installing firmware). Restore default setting (optional) to ensure no issues....

Change-log is missing:
  • Changed: Graphic authentication disable by default.

Could be the same changes for 1.01NA and 2.00NA

Latest Firmware Version :    2.00 ,Thu 25 Mar 2010
ftp://ftp.dlink.co.uk/dir_products/dir-685/dir685_v2.00B01.rar

Where do you take this information from, I am looged onto the Uk FTP server under that exact address and there is only F/W2.00EUB01 available.

ftp://ftp.dlink.co.uk/dir_products/dir-685/dir685_v2.00B01.rar

.... and it has been there apparently since 7 July 2010.

Some kind of a bad joke having a F/W released some 5 months! after it has been compiled according
to the internal datestamp.

D-Link just released this on their support page dated 26/07/2010, people have been waiting for this firmware for one whole year on A1 hardware. Not sure how long this update been left on the FTP server, but I recently just had my router for a couple of days.

Same file I have been looking at. I always check their FTP directories directly as their Website needs some
3-4 weeks to be updated with an important yet still very buggy F/W release 2.00.

Did your B1 hardware come with firmware 2.00 by default?

Why do you assume I have B1 H/W? It is A1.

Reading your topic 'Serious DHCP problems F/W 2.00 EU B1', figured it was a EU B1 hardware. Firmware is 'v2.00B01.bin' which doesn't help....

To me the firmware has resolve my DHCP issues, though a few people has stated the opposite. I think there's a increase speed using the NAS, but might not be due to being forgetful. Hence there is a new topic, just to compare to others NAS Speed. Not sure what you mean by stable....... but the router haven't froze on any of the firmware.

If it's totally un-responsive after installing the firmware, just pull the plug... which I did once it's made it to the start menu. If the update firmware progress bar is completed of cause......

This is to clear the cache that just doesn't like the new firmware.....

Seems like the firmware has been corrupted  :o, not sure how you manage to do that. I guess that you used cable to upgrade the firmware?

Ask D-Link Support for a firmware recover procedure for the DIR-685, let us know what D-Link suggest for a failed firmware.
