I bought a DCS-920 camera to monitor the surrounding area of my home and it seems that at night I record an enormous amount of false motion events. I am only recording a black screen. However, when my motion activated light comes on, the camera fails to record motion! I am using D-ViewCam 2.03 (the latest version). I have tried to follow a previous post where the moderator recomends filling the entire screen with squares when setting up the parameter for motion detection. I have set "sensitivity" to 20 and percentage to 80%. The moderator had recommended 10% for sensitivity but I decided to increase it since video is not recorded when my motion activated light comes on.
I am assuming that I am getting too many false motion events as a result of electronic noise in the camera. Consequently, I need to optimize these parameters for this situation. My problem is that I don't understand the function of "percentage (%)" in the software. I can guess what is the function for "sensitivity (%)". Knowledge of how "percentage (%)" and "sensitivity (%)" affect motion detection would very valuable for anyone here since the manual does not explain this. Does anyone here know the role of these parameters?
