We're currently using the EBR-2310 as our main router in our small office.

We have both XP and Vista/7 users.

Our EBR is setup as our DHCP server and it is connected to a cable modem with a static ip address.

We've encountered a strange problem with the DHCP server on the router.  If computer 'A' get's an IP address from the EBR, and then we reboot the EBR (usually because we're tweaking settings on it), if computer 'B' asks for an ip address before computer 'A' renews, it will get the same ip address as 'A'.  So far, this is all understandable.  IP conflict ensues until we can get computer 'A' to renew itself to a different ip address.

When we try to do that, computer 'A' reports that it can't get a new ip address because the one it got from the EBR was a duplicate.

Is this a bug with the DHCP server on the EBR?  I'm assuming that computer 'A' is asking for the same ip address as it had before during the renew process (it does this even if we manually release the ip address before hand), and then the EBR gives it the same IP address as computer 'B'.

We have the latest firmware installed (v1.05) and our's is hardware revision A2.

At this point the only thing we can do is assign a new static ip address on computer 'A' to resolve this issue.  But it sure makes 'tweaking' settings on the EBR a huge pain.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds more like Windows tries to keep the IP-address, and does not realize that the router has been restarted. Is it the XP or the W7 box that displays this behaviour, or both?
