Download Problems on DIR-615

I bought a new dir-615 router and installed it on my system, created a wireless network and added a couple of laptops to it. Since then, each system has seen a drop in download speed regardless of whether there is another system using the network at the same time. I have a internet connection of 4 mbps which typically gave me download speed of 512kpbs on each system when tested separately, but now I'm gettting a max speed of just 128 on all three. My router version is C2 and firmware 3.03. Will updating the firmware help? if so, how do i go about it? I use Windows 7 on the system and two of the laptops with windows xp on the third one.Please help!
