I recently updated my router to firmware version 1.34 from 1.33. I've also had this router for more than a year so I guess that this router is out of warranty.

The problem is, I recently switched from using WiFi, to using an Ethernet cable. But then I also updated the firmware on this router. And whenever I'm watching T.V. on my IPTV, the connection keeps buffering. It haven't happened before when using WiFi. So that is why I can't figure if it's because of using wired that makes it buffer or because of the updated firmware version. Note that I'm also always torrenting.

Second, I'm also using my iPhone. And since I have WiFi, I only use that for internet connection. But before I updated the firmware, I can always connect to the router without any problems. But now that I've updated to 1.34, I always get the message "Unable to join the network". This gets very annoying when I need to connect. But only sometimes, will it connect when I keep clicking on my network.

Also, my DIR-655 doesn't save port forwarding. This is really weird. I saved it but then it doesn't show but the port is does work.

Any solution to these problems or is it just the router?

Torrents will clogg your bandwidth...need I say more? Minimize the number of inbound and outbound connections (and look very closely to the bandwidth that you have available) and you will do fine. If not, report back.

FW 1.33 seems better because my iPhone would connect to the router automatically.

I haven't tried using my IPTV when I'm also torrenting though. I'll do it tonight and see if it buffers continuously. And, when I was using version 1.33, my IPTV would buffer but rarely. When I was using version 1.34 though, the video buffers more often than usual.

Even though I'm always torrenting, I should be able to connect wirelessly, the problem would be that the internet will be slow.

I just watched my IPTV and the buffering problem got worse! It buffers every time I load the channel then it disconnects. I then disconnected the power from my router and modem then restarted them. Clicked on the channel again then its the same problem.. Maybe its just my IPTV though, because my ISP (Time Warner Cable) has blocked signal from my IPTV before.

I've been thinking, could the problem partly come from the Measured Uplink Speed in QOS Engine? My ISP said I should have about 512 kbps but my measured uplink is 535 kbps which is way over the limit. And maybe that is why my router isn't working correctly. It could only be part of the problem though because I use to have a few kbps higher than normal before and have things still work perfectly but through WiFi.

I have been connected to my router wirelessly now and it's a lot better than when using FW 1.34. But IPTV still disconnects often. I'll try my IPTV for a few more days then see if using manual uplink speed is better than auto.

After that, if things are still the same as now, i'll upgrade back to 1.34 and do the same testing.

If it's still like that, I'll take it as my Internet is too slow.

I think I've actually found a solution to this problem. :o

Due to my Bit-torrent program and my high upload connections, the network couldn't take it all and would just slow down my whole Internet. Also, my upload speeds are slow from my ISP so it isn't the QOS Engine's fault.

I just upgraded back to FW 1.34 then lowered my uploading tasks and there it is. Everything is back to normal and this router is working great again.  ;D
