[Help] Basic Xbox Live Problem
« on: August 02, 2010, 10:47:55 AM »

Alright so i've had this ongoing problem for.... 8 months now, and dlink themselves say that it is not their problem, so i should contant microsoft, i do that, they say to contact dlink, so yeeah, anyway:

Problem: Hardwired and/or Wireless connection (both have the same problem) connect fine, i can download content, watch movies, everything except for allowing connections to other players. Xbox live connection set up says it is connected fine, however EVERY game i own will NOT connect with other players, i can have it sit in the lobby for a whole day and it will never say 1 player is found.

People tell me they just plugged it in and played with this DIR655 but that doesn't seem to work with mine =/.

No my ISP isn't blocking it as my Belkin router works fine with xbox live, just its half the speed as this.

Firmware Version: 1.32NA
Hardware Version: A4
Product Page: DIR-655

I have my xbox on the DMZ, doesn't change anything(off it aswell), ports 3074, and 88 are opened for it's ip, that is static.
Endpoint filtering is both independent.

Firewall: with everything not checked it doesn't change.

Any help would be appreciated, if you need more info let me know and ill look for it.

My issue is similar to this. Should it be enabled or disabled?

See what might work. Have you considered the option that nobody wants to play with you?  :P

Seriously, have you searched the forum for duplicate issues and possible resolutions?

My 360 works fine with the 655.  Try it in an out-of-the-box configuration.

Save your configuration first!

Unplug modem.

Now reset the router to defaults - I believe it's 10s of holding the reset button in with the reset button activation tool (ie: paper clip).

Plug modem in.

Configure router with bare essentials for your network - admin password changed, wireless network set up using wizard if you're over WLAN, etc.

Turn on 360, connect to XBL.

If that works for you, go back through your router's configuration, restoring stuff manually, checking the 360's operation after each change you make until you figure out what broke it for you.
