DFL-800 drop packets
« on: August 04, 2010, 01:44:35 AM »

Dear all,

I need help and suggestions.
I have a DFL-800 NetDefend Firewall, and I attached an Intel Storage Server (NAS) device into the LAN.
Often the NAS cannot access for a moments, then it can be access again.
I see the log, and got this message for the NAS device.

2010-08-04
15:33:52   Warning   RULE
6000051   Default_Rule   UDP   lan
192.168.9.11
239.255.255.250   32915
1900   ruleset_drop_packet
drop
ipdatalen=350 udptotlen=350

Its that the cause of access/cannot access problem to the NAS?
How can configure/setting the NetDefend Firewall so that message not rise again?
If it's not the cause, what is the possible cause, and how to solve that?

Thankyou.

Your message means DFL drops broadcast packet by SSDP.
How you try access your NAS? Thru files (SMB) or web interface? Try to ping it during unaccessible time.

I used the web interface only to do the administrative task (eg. create user, create folder, expand quota, shutdown the NAS). On daily basis, the user (+/- 10 user) will use the NAS for copy/transfer files.

Additional Info:
- The internet works OK.
- The LAN works OK.
- the Rules works OK
- The DHCP works OK
All seems to work OK, only the NAS has issue above.
