Way I think about it is Wireless G is like a Edge connection with your cellphone, but Wireless N is like a 3G or 4G connection. Sure, 3G is faster, but theres less towers, which means less signal. So you can either go with more slower signal (and this faster rate) or less faster signal. Rule of thumb I use, if you have less then 70% signal level, use G. More, try using N if compatible.
