unable to on dns323
« on: August 09, 2010, 05:04:50 AM »

i noticed that everytime i press the on button, the power adapter light will start to blink(very dim) but the dns323 does not light up, i can hear tick tick sound from the dns323.

Once i unplug the power adapter connector from the dns323, the power adapter light will become full yellow color again. Is the power adapter spoil? or dns323 spoil(which i think is highly unlikely)?

I opened up and checked the dns323 board, no bloated caps or burn mark.

Can someone help me?

I would guess the power adapter is faulty. You may be able to get a new one from Dlink depending how old it is...

Try contacting Dlink? Ebay? Or see if you can get an alternative with the same voltages/rating/pinouts?

I've rescued a number of devices by simply cutting the cable to the old supply and wiring a different unit with matching outputs to the cable.  I keep old wall warts and supplies for this purpose.

i opened up the power adapter to check if for bloated cap but unable to find any
i then plug in again without the cover and it works.
After i put back the cover for the adapter, it fail again
I open it up and it work again, strange.
Somehow i managed to cover it back slowly while it work and now it seems ok.
Anyway, i am going to order an adapter, exactly the same model for backup.
Thank you.

I think I'd carefully examine the adapter and see if there's a bad solder joint or loose wire.
