It's been set to that exact setting ever since...
Yes, but as you says, its quite possible the old router reacts differently to short interuptions ot the modem. It its kind of like the equivalent of a T3 with a cable modem. Thats why I suggested try changing those two settings. One is how often it checks to see if your PPPoE connection is up, and one is how it tries to connect. Honestly though, since I have no real life experiance with this, I would just try expermenting. Set the Max Idle time to 0, wait a day or so, and see if its better, change it to 30, see if it gets better, change the reconnect mode, see what happens. If there was some difference between the two routers, that would likly be it. Probably the two routers had different settings there by default.
yes im using DynDNS host name for my server here, w/c wouldnt cause the said errors i wouldnt think..
I would agree. DDNS wouldnt stop your PPPoE connection. Just when I saw that odd DNS server, at first it actually looked like a worm. LOL
My ISP is BAYANTEL Philippines, and my modem is a ISP Issued ZTE ZXDSL 831 Series..

Or
Username: ZXDSL
Password: ZXDSL
(If you cannot logon using the user name and password combinations provided above, you may need to reset the modem by long-pressing the ‘reset’ button to the default factory setting.)
Be careful with resetting though, there are probably some settings saved in there put in by the tech when he installed it. Most likly its just username and password and stuff, but fair warning. Hopefully the default passwords work. Here more info one what we would want to do.
Instructions to Set Connection Type to Bridgeis there any improvements i can do on this?
BayanDSL ForumHeres some suggestions from a Mod on that forum:1) Check if your modem is near any of the following devices: TV sets (CRT Monitors also), UPS, AVRs, transformers, high powered lamps, huge speakers, base of wireless phones, refrigerators, air con, routers (if you own one, it is not advisable that it is inches beside the modem, 12-24 inches distance is recommended), and other similar devices.
2) Check also if the phone cable connecting the modem to the ADSL filter for any bites, exposed wires or irregularities.
3) Check also the brown cable connecting the phone jack to the box outside of your house for any irregularities, bite marks, or exposed wires.
4) Check also if the phone cable connecting the modem to the ADSL filter is the correct length (roughly three meters).
5) If you have a carpet like table cloth where you place the modem, better place a thick book in between as this can cause static electricity and thus affect your internet connection.
6) Make sure that the modem is in a well ventilated area.
7) Check if the phone cable connecting the modem to the ADSL filter is mingling with many wires coming from other appliances. If it does, better isolate or segregate them and move the modem's phone cable away from the other wires.

If you use phone extensions, please remove them as the ADSL filter supplied during the installation can only handle one phone unit.
