No power to new drive (2TB Samsung HD203WI Spinpoint F3EG)
« on: August 16, 2010, 05:21:05 AM »

So my shiny new hard drive arrived. As I've got two standard volumes in at the moment I turned off the 323, popped the one out I wanted to replace and inserted the new drive. Powered on 323, no power to the drive.

Put the drive in an external USB enclosure, turns on fine.

Put original disk back in 323, fine.

New disk, no power to the drive.

What gives? My next step is to do a factory default but this doesn't make sense to me

:(

It seems perhaps my gental nature was a little too gental. I inserted the new disk just like I did the other and it clicked in to place, but after a more forceful shove back in to position it seems to now be powering up just fine. Slightly worrying.

I won't delete this, incase any other limp wristed individuals like myself stumble across this issue. :)

You really shouldn't leave stuff like this around, it was pretty tempting.  :o ;D
