DNS323 couldn't see the content of the hard drive. Help!
« on: September 02, 2010, 07:19:16 AM »

When I try to access the contents of my WD 1.5TB EADS drive on volume 2 of the NAs, it says no contents. Same thing when I try to FTP, I don't see any files. On the web GUI, i can see the drive with the still 1gb free.

No changes were done on the system nor anyupgrades in firmware or settings.

I pulled out the drive and checked it on my Pc and I can still access and see the contents.

How do I fix this? It was working a few hours ago and when I checked now, I couldn't see my files  ???

RECOVER THE FILES FIRST ON THE PC!  :o

I'd try the old standby after that, a factory reset of the DNS-323.  If that doesn't work, I'd probably consider formatting the drive and starting over once you have saved your data.

I rebooted the NAS and it did not recognize the drive and wanted to format it.

I connected it to the Pc and erased around 50GB and connected it back to the NAs and everything is back to normal. I wonder if it has something to do with the drive being almost full..

Thanks for the quick response gunrunnerjohn! ;D

Sounds like something else afoot there, that should not be an issue.  I'd make sure you have backups of anything you're putting on the drive. :)
