Where do these dam$ crazy characters come from???
« on: March 25, 2008, 12:50:17 PM »

Hello all,

I am wondering if anyone has seen these errors that I'm getting...

Under 'Advanced/Port Forwarding' where I am entering the TCP and UDP port numbers or ranges, every once in a while a 'crazy' character will replace one of the numbers in my Text Boxes.  The symbol is a black diamond with a white question mark in it.

What browser are you using? Firefox or Mozella are not fully supported on this router. Please make sure you have the latest firmware and use Internet Explorer.

I have occasionally seen garbage characters throughout the router setting pages.  The character I have seen is a box .  I cannot reproduce this error at will.

Running:
IE 7 on Windows XP pro SP2
Version   7.0.5730.11
Build   75730

I have not tried other browsers.

Cheers

hmm, I thought I was the crazy one. I had major troubles with my first dir-655 (green led's). It would reboot and lost it's config settings all the time, but I never did mention this other anomoly I had, which was the same as described here with the crazy characters. It seemed like the firmware was corrupting becasue they would remain even after resetting to fact config and flashing firmware. The replacement I received has not displayed this or any other odd behavior though.

I am running IE7 on Windows XP Pro SP2.

When I originally had this problem I found out that there was a new firmware update so I ran the update and started plugging in the new settings.  About a week later these characters came back.
