First of all, I apologize for this long post. I'm hoping someone can help me before all my hair is gone.
My equipment:
DNS-321(Configured as RAID 1)
D-Link DIR-655 Router
WD TV Live Media Player
1 computer running Windows 7. I'm the only one using the computer set up for 1 User-Administrator, password protected and guest is off. (In User Accounts it shows: 'Bruce'-Administrator-Password Protected and 'Guest'-Guest account is off. Full Computer Name: BRUCE-PC; Workgroup: WORKGROUP
Windows firewall is turned off
Currently, I have all my movies, pictures and photos on my NAS and main hard drive on my computer. I'm able to see and play everything on my HDTV via the WD TV Live.
Here's my problem: I want to schedule the NAS to backup my movies, pictures and photos from my main hard drive, so I login to the NAS via web and click on 'Schedule Downloads'. Under 'Login Method' I choose 'Account' and in the 'User Name' box, I enter the name that appears whenever I restart my computer, which is 'Bruce' and also enter my computer login password in the 'Password' box.
Next, under 'Type' I use the pulldown menu and select 'Folder'.
Next is the 'URL' box, which I enter the Network Path: \\BRUCE-PC\Bruce's Photos\
When I then click on the 'Test', it always comes back 'Test result: Failure. Please verify the URL, DNS settings, and your account settings'.
For sharing the Bruce's Photos' folder, I right click on the folder-Share With-Pull Out Menu and select 'Specific People'-Pull Down Menu and select 'Everyone'-Click On 'Add'-Pull Down Menu and Select 'Read/Write'-click on 'Share' box. Also, I have right clicked on the folder-Properties-Click On 'Sharing' Tab-'Advanced Sharing'-Check Box: 'Share This Folder'-Permissions Box-Full Control-Allow-Apply-Apply-Ok.
Whew, I'm sorry again for the long post, but if anyone can help, I would appreciate your input.
