Vlan Question
« on: September 13, 2010, 11:48:03 AM »

Under Advanced -> Virtual server
Can I Use VLANs to compartmentalize WLAN traffic
In essence block a port / computer from seeing and or talking to any other machine on the network?

I might be getting a new job, and they require a separate internet connection for my work PC, but I think that is silly, and there should be a way to isolate my work PC other than paying for a second ISP to the house.

If you know of a router that can essentially do the same through LAN isolation that works too, but if I can use the equipment I already have.....

Let me know your thoughts, or if you have a guide on how to use the Virtual Server Option that would be great!

The only VLAN you can use is to use the Guest access. This access can be compartmentalized.
You cannot create VLAns otherwie with this router, you need more expensive routers for that (or use a DD WRT/Tomato modded router, which does not apply to the 655)

Any suggestions on some D-link tech that might fit the bill?
