A very strange sequence of events:
The NAS device was removed from the network. No one was able to connect to the device so it was restarted. On restart things looked okay, until I noticed that it was reporting as 1.2 terrabytes in size (and full); I was running a RAID-1 with two 500 gig drives.
Another restart, and volume 1 is no longer there. I logged in via the web interface and the only option is gives me is what RAID to use. I am reluctant to chose one because I have a feeling that it does not recognize the drives and will simply reformat them.
To top all of this off, I used Disk Internals Linux Reader and was able to browse the content of the drive. The file structure was there but every folder contained the same set of files. There were also many files that were now 0 bytes in size. This is true for both drives that were in the NAS device.
So... any idea what happened, and is there anything that can be done to recover the drives?
