No Wireless
« on: September 25, 2010, 07:26:46 AM »

Hello all.  I bought my D-Link DIR-615 about 5 months ago and have never gotten the wireless to work.  At the time, I was using wired everything because I prefer it that way and my Blackberry Bold 9000 had a good signal, so I never sweated the problem.  However, I've recently moved to a somewhat country area in the woods with a very weak/no signal.  I would like to be able to use my phone with this router.  I know the problem is not my phone because I have never been able to use the router wireless with my HP laptop or my PS3.  My phone did say it was connected to wifi for about 20 minutes the other day, but other than that I've never been able to connect to this router wirelessly.  My hardware version is C1 and the firmware is 3.11NA.  Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I downloaded and installed the 3.12NA firmware upgrade and tried connecting with my BB Bold.  That worked, but it had a SSID that I didn't like.  I changed it in my d-link settings and on my phone, now it won't connect again.  DO I really have to go with the name it gave me or is there some way to change it?

I deleted the profile on my phone, set up a new connection with success.  Now to figure out why my laptop won't connect.  It asks for a super long security key which I have no idea what it is.  I think the router made one up automatically because it is ungodly long.

Still can't figure out what the security key is, plus my phone disconnected from wifi after 5 minutes.  This router is ridiculous.  Should have bought another Linksys.

If by forever you mean 64 min..then yes. And didn't you set the wireless key as you configured the router? I think it even asks you to write it down on the CD pamplet and it saves it as a file on your desktop. Where did that go wrong, and what was the fix?
