The Symptom: Wireless works very well for most of an evening or day (most things connect at 65Mbit, and I'm getting between 20 and 40Mbit to the fastest Speakeasy sites from the wireless clients), then for reasons unknown, the wireless presence simply disappears. All devices on wireless are disconnected, and wireless scanning from portable devices (HTC Evo's using WiFi Buddy, and Windows netbooks using InSSIDer) shows that the Wireless router has gone offline. Power-cycling the DIR-655 brings wireless back, but only until the next cycle of the same symptom.
I have a visible SSID, no guest network, and 20MHz channel width. Security is enabled in WPA/WPA2 mode. Firmware reports the latest version.
I *am* in an apartment complex, so the airwaves are pretty cluttered.
Wired Equipment:
- D-Link DIR-655 Router (Mixed BGN mode, WPA/WPA2 security, 20MHz width, fixed channel 2/auto (seems not to matter), One 7Db external dipole, and two original onboard antennas)
- Zoom DOCSIS 3.0 Cable modem
- Sprint AirRave
Wireless Equipment:
- Intellinet 524704 Wireless 150N Access Point, Station Infrastructure mode. (7Dbi external antenna. This is wired to a Zonet 8-port switch, which is, in turn, connected to my LG Integrated Home Theater unit)
- Toshiba NB305 netbook
- Dell of indeterminate, but recent model
- XBox 360
- (2) HTC Evo's
- Canon Pixma 560MP wireless printer/scanner
- Ipod Touch
Any ideas?
