Gr, Disconnection Issues !
« on: April 02, 2008, 10:39:09 AM »

So I've had my router about 24 hours now and I'm having issues! I'm using the beta firmware, version A2 hardware. Any suggestions to help fix this ?

Don't know for sure what "deauthentication" is, but it sure sounds like wireless security...see my posts under the thread "Intermittent routing failures, wireless only"....don't know if it will help, but I am now able to stay connected without any issues...

I saw that thread... I went ahead and changed the WISH settings. I can't take off Security Mode because I live in town and don't want everyone using my router.

We'll see if the WISH setting did anything.

So far so good. I hope that fixed the problem.

I am restricting access to the network to only those MAC addresses which I insert through the web interface, and by disallowing all others from connecting, you should be able to prevent anyone from using your network if you do the same thing.

If I have to I will do that. So far I haven't had any disconnects.

Where is that option you're talking about ?

After logging into the web based interface, go to Advanced --> Network Filter --> MAC Filtering Rules...select "Turn MAC Filtering ON and ALLOW computers listed to access the network". This should prevent any other MAC addresses from being able to access your network. Someone would have to know your password in order to add the MAC address at that point, I'm pretty sure.

You may have to add the MAC address via Setup --> Network Settings --> Add DHCP Reservation, check the Enable box and enter the computer name, IP address and MAC address as a prerequisite, I don't know (that's how I did it, but there may be other ways to do it).

Well, I went out last night and replaced this router! It was disconnecting everything attached to it and causing XBox live to freeze up. I'm not sure why my post was edited and 90% of it deleted! That was uncalled for.

As I previously stated... I replaced the DIR-655 with a Netgear WNR3500 and have not had a single issue with gaming, disconnection problems etc.

As I posted in the other thread, I am also experiencing this issue.

With all the users posting this issue in here, you would think Dlink would recognize it as a significant problem with this router.

I only wish I had known how bad it was before my 30 day return was up. :(

There is no cure yet... perhaps one day in the next... 6, 9, 12 months?
