Free uPnP Entertainment Service (FUPPES) DNS-323 ADD-ON Please?
« on: October 19, 2010, 07:59:13 PM »

I would like to request that an ADD-ON be created from the source code of the "Free uPnP Entertainment Service (FUPPES)" application for the DNS-323 firmware 1.08, 1.09, or upcomming 1.10.

Free uPnP Entertainment Service (FUPPES) source can be found here:
http://fuppes.ulrich-voelkel.de/download/

I would also request that the "fuppes.cfg" file be accessable and editable from the DNS-323 SMB/NFS shares under a folder called "FUPPES"

The reason I am asking for ths....

I have a slight inconvenience streaming avi files from my DNS-323's running firmware 1.09 and the built in uPnP AV Server option, to my Samsung LED (UN46B7000) TV (Running firmware 2009/11/10_001016).

The picture and audio streams fine. I just do not have the ability to PAUSE (fast forward and rewind are not supported as per page 60 of my Samsung manual). Not being able to PAUSE is extremely annoying.

I am able to PAUSE using the Samsung PC Share Manager software (ver 2.33) that I have downloaded and am running on my PC with Windows XP. I am also able to use Free uPnP Entertainment Service (FUPPES) installed on my new laptop running Windows 7 and able to PAUSE with this setup also.

So I know the TV is capable of PAUSEING streamed video, so this leads me to believe that the uPnP AV Server on the DNS-323 is missing some of the uPnP specifications that would make it DLNA compliant and fully compatible with the Samsung DLNA/UPNP specification....

Don't hold your breath. There are so many uPNP implementations out there, that it's impossible (and doesn't make much sense) to port them all to the DNS-323.

If you're not afraid to mess with your DNS-323 and install a fun-plug, see here: http://forum.dsmg600.info/viewtopic.php?id=5999
