Because the card itself uses the Atheros chipset that may be specific to the driver recommended by windows update, then you may want to use the driver and it may work fine for you. Just be aware that we cannot support the card unless it is using a D-Link specific driver.
Hi All,
We have a problem, then, because I am presently using the D-Link Driver version 1.30, but when I look in Device Manager for the Network Card, the Driver for it, was not / is not supplied by D-Link at all, but by Atheros in Driver Details.
It saids "D-Link DWA-552 ExtremeN Desktop Adapter" in Device Manager.
Driver Provider: D-Link
Driver Date: 07/23/2007
Driver Version: 6.0.3.107
But in Driver Details:
ar5416.sys
Provider: Atheros Communication, Inc.
File Version: 6.0.3.107
Copyright: 2001-2006 Atheros Communications, Inc. All
So I don't understand. Is the one found in Windows Update, a legitimate upgrade path?
