323 Suddenly requires a username/password after power outage.
« on: October 23, 2010, 09:09:49 PM »

Had the box since Christmas, and it's been running great with 3TB (1.5TBx2) Toshiba drives in it, until a few nights ago.  After the outage, I reboot the device, only to find the 323 now wanted a username and password from my Windows 7 machines, even with no users or groups assigned and never needing one before.  My dad's XP machine and my PS3 don't seem to be affected at all and operate as they should.
There have been no network or even local changes on either W7 computer and the problem happens connected through Wi-Fi or even a direct connection from my desktop to the 323 (not sure if that matters in this case).  I tried using the username/password I use when going to the config page, but that didn't work either.

I've running firmware 1.09, and have been since it was released.  Thanks in advanced for the help guys.

First step, a factory reset to defaults and reconfiguration.  This won't affect the data on the drives.

Hi Farlo,
2nd step, invest in a good UPS.  Brownout, power surge, failure, transformer blows in your neighborhood...  you'll be good and hopefully won't experience problems which were likely caused by a power issue again.  Hope your unit has only lost its settings.

Hello,

I had the exact same issue with Windows 7 asking for username/password to log into my Nas as well. I did a factory restore and it solved the problem. Thanks for the tip!

This box apparently lives for factory resets! :D
