I'm trying to configure DNS-323 (Firmware 1.09) to send test mail using smtp.gmail.com (port 465) with authentication set to "ON" -
and the web interface becomes unresponsive forever.
the disks can be used OK, but no pages can be loaded from the admin interface until I reboot the device.

I tried with firmware 1.08 and then updated it to 1.09 - same bug.

sending test mails using other smtp server setting result it "test failed" - which is OK, but I need smtp.gmail.com since it's the only one I can use from home.

Have you tried a factory reset then configuring manually?

well, I just got my device just yesterday, so I assume it had factory settings.
I switched to comcast mail server and everything works fine.

I see  the "send mail" process kills (hangs) the whole web interface forever if there's no reply from the  server. just try using the credentials I provided above and see - the web UI dies after unsuccessful mail send attempt.
