Weak signal and rate

The dwa 556 gets 100% signal strength and 300mbps rate according to the router, but once i move it to my room which is 1 floor above it drops to 60% signal strength and 54 mbps rate.
I mean its a huge drop in transfer rate, but my laptop gets 90% signal strength and close to 270mbps transfer rate.
Why the huge difference when my laptop is right next to my desktop, dwa 556 got 3 antennas it should do way better.

What can i do to make the transfer rate better? I got the latest driver for the card.
