I have the DIR-655 with 2.0NA Firmware.

VOIP keeps getting locked up through it.

I've disabled SPI.
My VOIP provider (Nextiva) says turn OFF ALG SIP  (Application Layer Gateway - SIP).

Problem is:  DLINK HAS REMOVED THIS OPTION??

Does anyone have any back door (or other tip) on how to disable SIP ALG???

It may be hidden.

Try viewing the firewall web page without a style.

Thanks... BUT... Not sure how to do this "without a style".  I looked at page source and found no ALG or SIP there.

Please advise as it looks like this router may need to be thrown out since I cannot get VOIP working reliably through it.

Not sure how with other browsers but with IE you just select View > style > no style

But STILL no ALG / SIP checkbox  (NO ALG section)

So... I JUST CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHY DLINK REMOVED THE ALG Section? 

OK. I ordered a WRT-54GL   It arrived today. I'll have to flash it with Tomato firmware. So, since I am not getting any usable answers here (And D-Link hasn't answered my Customer Support formal query)  It looks as I will be dumping this D-Link in the waste can tonight and henceforth call D-Link "Dumb-Link"

Sorry... Otherwise a nice little box... But, since It craps out 3 lines of VoIP, it's junk to me.

I wish someone could SAVE this little box and its usefulness.  At this church (this is being used at a church) we see souls saved. Too bad we can't save a little D-Link Router.

Not sure about the SIP ALG setting, however have you tried putting the VOIP device in the DMZ?

OK seems to be working now for two days in DMZ.  Of course I've exposed the admin interface wit only a simple password.   That's troubling.

Save the configuration.
Tools->System->Save Configuration

This saves config.bin, which is misleading because it is just an ASCII text file.
Check the file
I'd guess this is the setting you want to control.
alg_sip=1

Change it, then reload configuration.
But there is a bug in this process, it lost some of my settings, can't remember which ones now, was a while ago when I did this. Check the config.bin file to see if all the port foward and virtual server settings are saved.

BTW. I think they did next to zero testing on this Firmware.
ALG section is missing from Advanced->Firewall Settings web page; http://<router>/adv_dmz.asp
Log doesn't record any useful data.
I don't think support actually use a real device, they use the emulator.

Dlink support suggested install the latest firmware, which as it happens is just the same version already installed by manufacturer, so no help there.

Same case here. I need to turn off SIP also under ALG. I can't use this router DIR-655 Rev_B.

Come on D-Link Fix this!!

On FW 1.34NA the ALG is on the bottom of the firewall settings page, just below DMZ host. I am running HW A3.

Are you belowe average or ? That is: DIR-655 B1 whole different setup !!

Thats it. I'll never recommend anyone getting a d-link router again. Turning off SIP ALG is the first thing I do when getting a new router. It is ESSENTIAL to be able to turn off this broken feature on any modern router. Now that I think about it, why isn't it turned off by default?

SIP is off in the B1 Firmware Version of 2.0.

It needs to be off to transmit Logitech Pictures and Sound using LogVid. If on, the program would not work.

I would Enable SP1, so you can see what is going on.

Hmm, are you certain it's turned off creator?

I'm not sure what protocol LogVid uses ( or even what it is for that matter), but I'm guessing it's not SIP.

And what exactly is SP1?  If you're referring to Windows service pack 1, I'm not certain this is relevant regarding the SIP ALG feature of the router missing from the configuration options.

Also, I believe that if you download the configuration backup from the router, you can see that the SIP ALG parameter is enabled.

I would think that D-Link could help us out here, or at least acknowledge that the feature is missing and that they may consider fixing this.  I'm new at posting here, so I'm not clear on whether or not they actually monitor or post on these forums though.

Anyway, I'd just like to say that I'd like to see this feature put back into place as practically anybody using SIP needs to disable it to have a properly working VoIP service.

He meant SPI- Stateful Packet Insprction.
