DIR-655_HELL

Dear Lycan,

After like a couple of months trying to get the DIR-655 to work stable I still am unable to setup up an stable connection.
I even bought the DWA-643 to replace my internal laptop wificard. But without any luck.

I tried all different kinds of firmware and all different kinds of settings, but keep having problems.
My biggest problem is when transferring a large file between the PC and Laptop wireless. When I
start the transfer the DWA-643 connection signal indicator starts to jump around, from 4 to 2  to 0
to 1 to 0 bars as signal strength. Followed by a disconnect. The same thing happens when I stream any
media or download a big file. Furthermore I have loads of Deauthentication lines in my log of the DIR-655.

I am able to connect a 300mbps but no stable connection.... (Both systems are Vista Ultimate)

My purpose with this post is to get a confimation of a D-Link employee that D-Link is looking into
these problems and trying to fiix this. Loads of people are having problems with the Dir-655 and or
the DWA-643. Is D-Link looking into these problems, are there any default settings to use which provide
a solid base to work from, for the Dir-655, DWA-643 and or Vista....

A responds would be really apreciated.

Hi,

Are you using the Network Filter and is your computer listed in there?

Log into the Router's Settings. Click on Advanced then click Network Filter.

Are you using Network Magic?

Same problem here...

[INFO]   Fri Apr 18 11:26:43 2008   Wireless system with MAC address 001CBFAE6143 associated

[INFO]   Fri Apr 18 10:21:28 2008   Wireless system with MAC address 0013CE67CC88 disconnected for reason: Received Deauthentication.

I suppose I need to open a case with support on this.  I have no network filters defined, WiFi protected setup is disabled, UPnP is disabled, WISH is disabled, the advanced wireless settings are at their default values (WLAN partition off, WMM enable is checked, Short GI is checked, Extra Wireless Protection is checked), on the firewall (per previous suggestions on here) SPI is disabled, TCP & UDP filtering are both set to endpoint, anti-spoof is off.

Both my wireless clients are 11g and wireless mode is set to g-only (WPA-2, AES).

Gets frustrating getting dropped from my VPN in the middle of doing a code deployment. :-/

Hi camattin,

I think that you would want > "UPnP is disabled " to be switched to Enabled. Setting is located in Advanced > Advanced Network > and check Enable UPnP.

Reason: If using Instant Messenger programs with Voice, connection fails if not enabled.

Also WISH should be Enabled. WISH - Enable this option if you want to allow WISH to prioritize wireless traffic.  And you are complaining about Wireless Connections.

Neither of those options have to do with the wireless adapters maintaining their connection and the router spontaneously dropping them.  I don't use any IM programs, so UPnP will certainly remain disabled.

And WISH, as you said, only affects traffic priority, which also has nothing to do with maintaining a connection.

Sorry, but dlink needs to step up to the plate and admit they have a problem.

Are you running MAC filtering?
Also take a look at this.
KB893357

Download the Patch

Describes the issue.

I am not utilizing MAC filtering and I've applied (quite some time ago, based on other posts in this forum) KB893357 to both my laptops which are experiencing the deauthentications.

Hi!  Not certain is this thread is still followed!

Check any / all Internet security / anti-virus / firewall software.  These software are now becoming more advance than previous version and they now may need to know which wireless network SSID they need to trust.  Otherwise, these will force the "deauthentication" notices and remove the wireless network from the list of available networks.
