i have the updated atheros drivers (9.0.0.222), running firmware 1.34 on the router, 20/40 set, only n mode and aes encryption. im running win 7 32 bit.

heres my status:
SSID   MAC Address   IP Address   Mode   Rate (Mbps)   Signal (%)

any ideas?

Sometimes newer isn't always good.

I am running D-Link Drivers, Date: 07/30/2009 Driver Version: 7.7.0.371
Router: DIR-655 A3 Version with Firmware 1.21
Wireless Channel 11 Transmission: Best
Signal Strength as reported by Router is 70% and 270 Mbps.

Not certain if running 1.70 or 1.60 Drivers, but http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=DWA-552&tab=3 and click on drivers. Just unpack the drivers, then use Device Manager to update the drivers.

Uncheck: Enable Auto Channel Scan: on the http://192.168.0.1/Basic/Wireless.shtml and go through the Channels and see which is better.

What is the Router, Model Number, Hardware Revision and Firmware on the Router?

What is your motherboard, Bios Version (does not influence speed) and what is the Ethernet Port Brand on the motherboard?

By the way, there is no 40 /40 on the Router. Previous poster, does not own a D-Link DIR-655 Router.

What is the version of Windows 7 32-Bit? Starter? Home Premium?

It might be, however, the 300 Mbps Wireless Speed, that is advertised by D-Link, actually depends on matching Adapters.
Meaning: D-Link DIR-655 A3, Firmware 1.21  is matched to my Wireless Adapter in my Desktop, which is the D-Link DWA-552 Xtreme N Desktop Adapter. I went back to Version 1.60. 1.70 is poorly written.

Added: Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1030, 1x2 bgn + Bluetooth connecting to the D-Link Router achieves only 104 Mbps active and in standby mode is 13 Mbps. This is looking at the http://192.168.0.1/Status/Wireless.shtml Status page on the Router. The Laptop is a DELL N7100.

As long as it works, I am not concern with Speed.
