Hi,
I have a dir-655 with a 2.00NA firmware. I have problems in two areas. One is a Dell network printer (mfp-1815DN) that can't be found in some circumstances, and the other problem is that locating my AppleTV sometimes doesn't work properly.
These problems only exist when I am on the wireless segment and the other device is on the wired segment. The AppleTV and the Dell printer are on wired, and if I'm on wired, I have no issues. If I'm on wireless though it is sporadic.
I have noted a number of forum threads with similar issues, where user have trouble with Windows 7 Play On, and others have issue with TVersity. These are seem similar and appear to me to have something to do with blocked network ports, or IPv6, or maybe mDNS(bonjour) support.
To complicate matters, in my situation, I am actually using the 655 as an access point, which I know is not supported, but the other threads I mention indicated that the problem exists for normal users when the router is in a default supported configuration. I've seen many threads where people simply switch out the DIR-655 for their old router and they get their functionality back, so this is likely a setting or firmware issue on the DIR-655
For me, I have this:
