DIR-825 Won't connect some web sites
« on: November 14, 2010, 02:47:33 PM »

Two weeks ago my DIR-825 stopped connecting to some URLs.  I made no changes to the router nor did I add any new software.  If I tether my laptop to my smartphone, I connect to those URLs without any problems.  I connected my cable modem directly to the laptop and I was able to connect to the URLs also.

I loaded the new firmware to the router and reset all the settings, but still no luck.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Something really odd I discovered a while back with a different D-Link device was an issue where if I was using a MAC ID other than the native one that came with the unit, at least one site was totally unreachable. I'm certain it was a configuration issue for that site, but I still don't fully understand the mechanism. I was able to repeat the issue, but I haven't looked at it in a while. I'd have to try to find my post to even remember site. It was some place my mom was trying to shop, had been able to shop till something changed.

It may be totally un-related, but I thought I'd throw that out there...

Hope this helps,
Hank

Under Setup/Internet/manual. I think its on by default. See what happens if you turn it off. Let us know.

turning off dns speeds up browsing on any machine and loads images on websites.
