DAP-1522 fails with DIR-615
« on: November 23, 2010, 09:07:18 AM »

I am running a DAP-1522 (v1.21) in Bridge mode with a DIR-615 (1.00VG).  I have configured the DAP-1522 to access the WiFi network and can see it connects correctly.  I have a PC connected to the DAP-1522.  Most of the time I can ping the DAP-1522 from the PC but cannot ping the DIR-615.  Occasionally when I reboot everything again I can ping the DIR-615 and get full internet access but this usually only lasts  a minute or so then it drops.  After that I can only ping the DAP-1522.  The DAP-1522 always says the Status is "connected" though.

The IP addresses are as follows:
DIR-615: 192.168.0.1
DAP-1522: 192.168.0.50 (static)
PC: 192.168.0.55 (static)

Any ideas as to how I can solve this problem?!

I have the same problem with a DIR-655.  Only solution I can think of is going into the attic and dropping a cat 6 cable and shutting off wireless. But I bought this pair for wireless n and they only connect reliably at 54Mbps wireless "G".

I have the exact problem connecting to DIR-815...... I can't seem to find a true fix for it. I do networking for a living. D-link imperfections are just beyond my knowledge or skills. A $10 wireless USB adapter works million times better than the DAP-1522  >:(

I have a DIR-655 that is connected to two DAP-1522. One is off the DIR-655 @ 5Ghz (AP mode) it is connected to another DAP-1522 (Bridge Mode) which my XBox 360 is connected to. Streams great!!!!

I had the same issue and had to turn off UPNP on my router to fix it.  After doing that, it works flawlessly 24/7.  However this really sucks because I have multiple gaming consoles and am unable to open all the ports on them (multiple IPs for the same port is not possible to open) so I end up with moderate/strict NATs on 2 of the consoles.  Very corny.

Set the 1522 to "Auto" for the IP (not static). Then reserve the  1522 IP (that was assigned by the router) address using your routers GUI. Make sure it is in the upper range of your routers assigned IP's. If not, manually change it in the routers IP reservation window. Now change your PC to "auto" IP (not static). Shut everything down. Power up modem (wait until it is totally rebooted), power up router (wait until it is totally rebooted), then power up the 1522 and PC. Everything should now function correctly.

when I set the DAP to DHCP I can no longer access its interface via http://dlinkap.  Also, the DAP doesn't show up in my list of devices on my router's GUI (D-Link DIR-815 accessed via 192.168.0.1) in the DHCP reservation table, it only shows up as a wirelessly connected device where it shows the MAC address but not an assigned IP,so I am unable to do what you suggested.  How can I get around this?

The 1522 will not show up under the reservation table until you reserve it. Under "add Dhcp reservation," click "enable," type in a name for the 1522, type in the ip address you want the 1522 to use (higher is better), type in the MAC, click save, scroll back to the top of the page and click "save settings." power down your 1522, re-power up your 1522 and it should now be using your reserved ip.

I had the same problem as reported in the very first post. The DAP-1522 was working, and then dropped out, working and then dropped out again. It was driving me crazy. I thought the reason was bad connection... there are 3 walls between the router (DIR 635) and the DAP. What I did, was that I upgraded the firmware on my router to the latest (2.21EU) and did the same on my DAP. Strangely enough my DAP was not delivered with the latest firmware (ver. 1.21). I then took a resetting on the DAP, run the setup and pushed the WPS button. I now had a connection, but in fear for getting the same problem I did a reservation on the router (ADD DHCP RESERVATION). In this way the IP address on my device, which happens to be a DENON receiver will not change, which is a good thing as I then can access the DENON from my PC. I further did a MAC CLONING on the DAP on the same mac address as I did for the reservation, i.e. my DENON.... I got a feeling that what did the trick (yes, my DAP is now working flawlessly) had something to do with the upgrades of the firmwares. I'm running out of space, so only a few tips at the end: Keep the DAP at its static default IP address (192.168.0.50) and  same channel on DAP and router, i.e. fix the channel on the router.

Hey gplung I should apologize, I was wrong earlier.  I tried putting the DAP on DHCP like you said and now it finally shows up as as a device on my DIR-815 and I am able to reserve an ip for it if I wish, but I probably won't because the lease for my devices is 7 days and that should work fine.  This is very good though because when it was set to static (192.168.0.50) it never showed up as a device...although now that I think of it maybe that was because the DHCP scope was 192.168.0.100 - 192.168.199.  Either way, my connection seems to be holding now and I am very happy about.  Thanks for the advice and the help man.
