Problems with wireless!!
« on: November 23, 2010, 05:04:00 PM »

I've had this router for maybe somewhere between 1-2 yrs, its firmware is up to date and should be working fine but suddenly the wireless isn't working properly; all the wires r in, the antennas are all good yet the speed sudden is excessively slow and continuously randomly disconnecting disconecting from games, or when simply surfing the net the internet doesnt disconnect, but its so slow i think the old aol dial up may have been faster sometimes (even emails are slow).basically, theres wireless, but its slow and keeps dropping out despite the signal str being full. its not the ISP, i spent 2 hours with them only to confirm i had a problem and its not them, and after a very long maybe 3 hours or so with the dlink tech ppl, got nowhere, i have no idea what to do, BUT when i do connect directly to the LAN ports the internet is perfect, just like how the wireless used to be. i have tried changing settings, changed the gamefuel and other rules, basically anything i could. i cannot get the wireless to work like normal again, if anyone has any suggestion let me no, i know just enough to make it work, but not to fix the problem lol. but there is only ONE thing that cant be changed, it HAS to stay mixed signal, some of the devices i have don't work with wireless N so i need the g still, sadly. also, my old netgear 54 MBPS router works perfectly, but its obviously NOT as good as this router (when it works) so i rlly need this fixed THX!!!

Are you in a mixed or heavy populated are with other Wifi connections in the area? Have you tried a factory reset and test again?

Have you tried as a test to switch from Mixed mode to a single G mode only at 2.4Ghz? Open the security for this test, no password. Then test some, then set a password keeping the single mode going...test and see if it maintains the connection. Try changing the channel as well. If your wired connection is good then something in the Wireless sounds like it could be interference is possible.

Let us know what you find.
