DIR-655 and DNS-323
« on: November 24, 2010, 02:11:35 PM »

Hello; I have purchased a 655 3 weeks ago and I'm extremely pleased with the performance  so far, but I do have one nagging problem.
My prior router -WAP  worked fine with my DNS-323. 323 has an built it torrent app which I have it found to be very useful. When plugged in , I can see the 323 content - but the bit torrent client would not start.
I'm not sure exactly what setting should I try to set 655 ( or 323 for that matter) to make it work...
This has been bugging me for a while now. Unfortunately I'm a rookie on setting routers and such.
For the knowledgeable folks here , what should I check ? I have set up 655 for wireless, MAC filtering etc ( and I have triple checked the MAC address of the 323).   I'm kinda stuck here now.
Thank you !
Note : I have posted the same question on DIR-655 forum as well.

The BT client starting or not has nothing to do with the router it is plugged in to. If it doesn't work properly, then that could be related, mainly if the right ports are not forwarded. Can you provide more detail as to what is happening?

Maybe not clear from my previous post. The BT client has worked prior to updating the router form an old SMC - Barracuda to DIR-655. Currently , after I added the torrent manually from a file ( I did verify the torrent prior by having it tested on a different client) nothing happens. The torrent does not start dl-ing , there are no connection made to seeders/peers ...
How do I check if the right ports are being forwarded or not ?

Ensure the DNS-323 is configured with the correct IP address, subnet mask and Gateway information that matches your new router configuration. You are possibly using DHCP which may set some or all of these values, that's ok.

Basic port forwarding is covered all over the net including the manual for your router I presume. Some generic info can be found here http://www.dlink.cc/d-link-router/how-to-configure-d-link-router-to-use-bittorrent-azureus-and-another-bittorrent-client.html
