password invalid after disconnecting router

My DIR -610 router was installed and worked properly for several months. I was having some trouble with my internet service and disconnected it for a couple of months. Now when I reconnect  - it says my password is invalid and won't let me in to verify security settings etc.  Leaving password space blank does not work either.
Would resetting the router solve this issue?
