I read in one of the many posts regarding these restarts that sometimes iPhones may be the problem. I turned my Android wireless off and have not had a restart in 24 hours.

I am using Firmware Version : 1.22NA,  2010/01/19 and don't feel like updating unlessI have further problems.

I agree, helped someone not too long ago with the same issue. I had him change the WiFi mode on the router to G mode only and with out any password and test. He didn't see any restarts. The post was in the past 2 months. I'll do some searching and see if I can find it. Keep us posted on your router.

When I get my (replacement) 4500, I'll try a few more things (if the wireless restarts keep happening).

To date, I have tested removal of ipv6 from any/all adapters (no change), removal of iphone4 entirely (no change), adjusted (almost) every setting in the router (no change).  Using 802.11a only (as a test) made the restarts go away - but that is not practical, since all of my devices are 802.11g.

Quite frankly, the only two things I have not done are:
- Changing security from Auto WPA/WPA2 to either only WPA or only WPA2
- Leaving the firmware alone (1.21na) and testing to see if it flakes-out on that before upgrading the firmware

It is going to probably be at least 20 days before I get a replacement 4500, however - since I have to ship it back to the company, they need to "test" it to verify it is flaky, then they have to ship me another one.

4+ days working non-stop. I am now connected with my wife's iPad, no problems.

The thing that worries me is that if I call Tech Support, they will most likely ask me to update the firmware. That has hot helped many other users.

Additionally, this item is not under warranty. Will D-Link feel any compulsion to fix an out of warranty product, maybe even obsolete?

So far, I have not seen D-link's presence on this board. I do remember calling Tech Support once before and got prompt knowledgable service.

This is interesting. I just had a wireless drop and I have an iphone connecting via wireless. Is there a more recent FW than 1.22NA that has fixes related to this?

There is v1.23 however I don't think there is any fixes mentioned for what your seeing here.

Yeah that's for sure. Is Dlink even working on improving this router anymore? This is what they have done in almost a year:

You could give it a try and see if it does anything. I can't say right now if there could be a compatibility issue between the 4500 and iphones. The last time I had the 4500 broadcasting WiFi, our 2 iphones and the 4500 worked flawlessly on v1.22. However our iPhones are 1st gen. I haven't jumped to something newer. Still waiting on 4th gen bugs to be worked out..might go 5th gen. I since then have shut off 4500 WiFi and use a Airport Extreme for WiFi as I use it for other APs to connect to to extent the range of WiFi in my house.

From what information I have gleamed from them, I think there focusing on other projects and other things for the future. I presume that if there are enough pressing issues out there for this unit that they will definitely review and make decisions at that time. I presume this unit has entered into or close to entering into a Legacy state for DLink and are looking to do other things. However been told "who's to say that anything DGL is dead." I do hope they or will consider doing a follow on. This unit over all has been the best ever router for gaming and IMO, been the best router I've ever had. I wish and hope they will look at our User Requests and Bugs posting and take them to heart for there next router. Love see a follow on to this one. I know they could do a killer DGL again. Ya, just need to address some of these issues we seem to see currently.

I agree it's a great router. Pretty impressed even if there are annoying issues.

Anyway, as a test to see how the wireless holds up, I've setup an IP reservation for my iPhone instead of having to assign it a new IP every time the iPhone connnects. Don't forget when you put your iphone in your pocket it seems to disconnect from wifi. When you turn it on and start messing around, the wifi connects again. Wondering if assigning it a reserved/static IP will help. Who knows.

could be the issue. I think I did forget to tell you that both Iphones are on assigned IP addresses. Everything on my network has assigned IP's accept for temp guests and PCs I work on from time to time.
