The main reason is that I haven't had good luck with finding a router that has stable connections. I've been through three or four over the years that had one problem or another with connectivity. This one seems OK, other than the logs feature.

My log completely disappeared today -- page is totally empty, and it's been up for 2 days :)

I could go to a DIR-825, which has been excellent for me, but I only have experience with Rev A and I doubt there are any of those still around.

Hi mbg,

One option, I just thought about. Download the shipping Firmware for B1 Hardware Version and reflash it. Maybe by reflashing it, may fix it.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

I just returned my 655 revB to the store for a refund.
I was going to get another one - and see if I had the same bad luck or not - but decided that I'd try a different router instead (while I wait for my dgl-4500 to get replaced).

I went with a Netgear WNDR3700 router to play out its 30-day return policy.
So far so good.  Definitely different than DLink regarding what you can configure, and the type of info it lets you see.
At least I am not questioning whether or not it is doing its "job" - yet.
I now have 29 days to return it.
