I would like to use the highest level of security on my home wireless network. My DIR-825 router is set with MAC filtering on, WPA encryption, and the network is "invisible." (Forgive me if my terminology is wrong... I'm not a techy at all... everything I know I have learned from these very helpful forums!) My Samsung Vibrant's MAC address has been entered. When the network is "visible," the phone connects wirelessly just fine. When I reset the network to be "invisible," the wireless connection is broken. As a data point, my iPod touch is able to connect wirelessly and stay connected without a snag even when the network is "invisible." Since MAC filtering is on, I can't understand why the "visibility" of the network should affect the phone's ability to connect. What can I do?

(By the way, a while back I posted a question re: the MAC address of my iPod touch not being accepted by the DIR-825 router. After updating the firmware, the problem was solved. Thanks to those who suggested this solution.)

I still have not resolved this issue, so here's a related question: If I leave my network "visible," how much does it compromise security? With WPA encryption and MAC filtering on, is my network reasonably secure?

Visable n etwork does not compromise the network security.  You will just advertise your network to your neighbours.
