First (of hopefully not too many...) $tupid question
« on: May 06, 2008, 05:50:13 PM »

I just received my DIR-655 and can't wait to get this thing up and running...problem is though, my PC crashed a couple of days ago and apparently I need a new motherboard, so seeing as the PC in question is 8 years old I am in the process of shopping around for an entirely new PC.
The PC I gave my son 2 years ago is farely decent and is what I currently use to get me my internet fix in these troubled times.
My questions is....can I hook up the DIR-655 to his computer until I get myself one? Will it cause alot of problems afterwards when I get myself a new one and try to change the settings  on the DIR-655 to have it detect my newer PC as the "master" PC? Or would it save me alot of trouble to just wait a few weeks and set it up once and for all when I get my permanent configuration set up? ???

Should not be a problem. There are no "Master PC" default designations. If you son machine is going to be part of the netowrk that includes the computer you are about to buy, the problems are even less. Just plug the new computer into a LAN port  at you'll be good to go.
