VPN between two DIR330s...
« on: May 14, 2008, 08:28:04 AM »

Hey there,

I have usual problem, two DIR-330s, both working fine with two Westell 327Ws (Westell’s in bridge mode of course) wireless, DHCP, Internet all operational…Only VPN is giving me trouble. I have created VPN profiles on both routers, they have connected fine several times (I was running tests before deploying them to customer’s site). First time on the customer’s site they have worked fine, except one of the routers had partial internet access problem ! After restarting that router corrected internet access issue, however VPN wouldn’t connect ! I re-created VPN profile on that router & still same issue. Not until I have disabled then enabled VPN profiles on BOTH routers I finally had my VPN tunnel back on, with one catch: Routers can’t ping themselves nor remote subnet devices (basically doesn’t work).

Both routers have 1.10 firmware, both are working fine on PPPoE (Verizon DSL), only usual thing that I see is that router that had internet issues, in status/vpn page it shows “tunnel/xx” where xx is the number that changes every few seconds (every time I refresh the page) while my other router shows “tunnel/0”

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated (I have setup IP sec tunnel as recommended on dlink’s support page: http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=2908&question=DIR-130%20/%20DIR-330

Update...In actuality VPN tunnel has been working all along, the problem is that on web management you can not ping VPN / "other" subnet, also VPN tunnel will not come up after restarting one of DIR-330s...I see new firmware is out, although I think I have one bad router...
