Static Routing
« on: May 29, 2008, 01:55:02 PM »

I'm I crazy in thinking that this router should be able to route on the LAN interface?  What use is the routing on this router if it can only route on the WAN interface.

Most WAN interface connections are DHCP so you have the following problems:
1. You never know what subnet you are on.
2. Since you don't know what subnet you are on how would you ever route traffic to anything?

The next point is this, anyone that has a set of public IP's that they require routing between are not going to use a DIR-655, let's face it, if you have public IP space, you are a company, and you are not using $100.00 routers to move your traffic around.

Why can this router not use it's LAN interface to route!  This is the feature 95% of its users would require, and from what I have read here it looks like the router did have this ability until v1.03, after that it was lost...

Can anyone help?

Thx
